About the Rules of Golf Group

The group was formed in 2001 by Ralph Myers when the volunteer USGA Committee Members and a few other volunteer Rules Officials wanted to meet monthly to discuss Rule situations that they experienced while working qualifiers. During 2002 while working other tournaments as Rules Officials, a number of spectators and players would ask where they could learn the Rules of Golf. The Group started inviting these people to our monthly meetings.

 

In addition to discussing Rules situations and decisions, one Rule from the USGA Rules of Golf Book is reviewed every month. The Group has continued to grow as more and more people want to learn the Rules of Golf. Some become volunteer Rules Referees at local tournaments.
