PARtners’ Committee Descriptions

GENERAL OFFICE – GSA Staff - Assist the staff with general office tasks. Mass mailing, phone answering, data entry (computer knowledge and basic office skills helpful). HELP NEEDED YEAR ROUND.
ACCOMMODATIONS – Linda Staurovsky & Alana Massey – Assist with the hotel reservations of the PGA TOUR Players. Work closely with the hotels in making sure the accommodations are to the player’s requests. Assist with hotel reservations for the Pro-Am Players.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT – Assist the tournament staff with general office tasks and logistics. Mass mailing, phone answering, data entry (computer knowledge and basic office skills helpful). Help needed year round. Greatest needs are from June through October.
ADMISSIONS/WILLCALL – Chuck Ely & Phil Stackhouse – Sell tickets, hold tickets for customers, control gate entry and bus loading. Location: Fiesta Texas parking lot.
AIRPORT RECEPTION - Ori Salame & Ramiro Wong - Greet incoming PGA Tour Professionals, guests and families. Help get luggage to vehicle. Some lifting required and some late hours before the tournament.
APPAREL – Ken Stokes & Pat Fink - Help distribute volunteers’ uniforms at designated location, GSA office and La Cantera Golf Course beginning 3 to 4 weeks prior to tournament. Standing for long periods of time and lifting required.
CADDIE MASTER – Michael Glenn & Michael Pollog– Serve as a liaison between the tournament and caddies; issue and collect caddie bibs with nameplates.
CHARITY VOLUNTEERS – Stephanie Sage - Assist with general office tasks and logistics. Specifically working with Birdies for Charity, Chip In For Schools, & Valero Texas Open TOUR Wives visit. Assist with mass mailing, & data entry (computer knowledge and basic office skills helpful). Help needed year round. Greatest needs are from June 1st through November 15th.
CLUBHOUSE PARKING – David Reta - Manage traffic flow and direct cars to parking spaces. Location: Clubhouse Parking lot and La Cantera golf course. Will be sitting in a shaded area.
COMMUNICATIONS - Don Bearbower - Responsible for the collection and distribution of completed scorecard information to the Media Center and the Main Scoreboard. Also assign, distribute, and collect of radios and cell phones used during the tournament. Help needed Friday, October 3rd through Monday, October 13th.
CONSTRUCTION - Tom Mabe - Assist in setup and tear down of facilities needed for tournament. Install fencing and light construction work as needed. Requires walking, standing and frequent heavy lifting; familiarity with common hand tools. Help need late August through early October.
CORPORATE HOSPITALITY - Manny Longoria & J.R. Reichl - Host and greet guests plus record entry with proper credentials at all Hospitality Skybox locations. People who like to have fun, smile a lot and be on their feet are best here.
CREDENTIALS - Assists the office staff in the inventory control of all tickets and parking passes. Put together customized hospitality packages that will be sent to corporations, Pro-Am packages, etc. Assist with Will-Call during the tournament and work on a ticket utilization report for final audit. FAMILY FIESTA DAY – Francisco Saenz & John Keane - Assist in the coordination of games and activities for the day. Must be able to stand heat for 6 hours or more.
GOLF CHANNEL - Marc Lowrance & Gary Quesenberry - Support GOLF CHANNEL broadcast primarily as on-course spotters and on-course wireless microphone crews. Must be able to walk course and carry microphone, plus be very familiar with golf etiquette and rules. Important: Individual MUST be able to work all 4 days during Broadcast (Thursday – Sunday).
GALLERY CONTROL/MARSHALLS – Mike Gurganus, Joe Schedler & Jeff Marsh - Ensure fair play, crowd control, and safety of spectators. Golf knowledge beneficial; long periods of standing in hot and humid conditions plus, some walking. Days required Thursday, Oct 9 through Sunday, Oct 12. No scheduling for Gallery Control will be done Monday – Wednesday.
GOLF CARTS - Rick Dibrell & Steve Nugent - Issue golf carts to authorized users and account for carts on course. Park carts at end of day. Moderate amounts of walking and standing. Cart barn out of the weather.
GREETERS - Gregg Drott - Greet the public and provide general info and directions. Coordinate public transportation to and from La Cantera golf course and Fiesta Texas. Requires standing for long periods of time.
LASER/SHOTLINK – Cynthia Mars & Janice Fletcher– Operate fairway or greenside laser and map every shot with coordinate grid to provide data for statistics and real-time media coverage. Fairway laser may require long periods of time in the sun. May require use of radio with headset and climbing 8-10 stairs.
MEDIA CENTER - Dan Brigle & Paul Greenwood - Handle media credential requests to those meeting requirements. Setup and operate media center.
MEDICAL – Sanjeev Mehr – Assist physicians on-site with medical issues that arise.
ON-SITE TRANSPORTATION – Ed Bustamante & Jim Dietzmann - Provide transportation for the professional players and wives. Requires some driving in congested areas and knowledge of the area; must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
VOLUNTEER HOSPITALITY – Doris (Dori) Patriarca - Oversee all PARtner food presentation and distribution. Keep the PARtner tent clean, organized and inviting. Create and maintain a PARtner registration process. Must be energetic and very friendly.
PLAYER RELATIONS – Lorrie Ortega - Assist with social activities, childcare, transportation, reservations, and special needs for players and their families. Strong interpersonal skills, outgoing, enthusiastic and flexibility needed; Tournament week only.
PRO-AM RESORT COURSE - Pro-Am gift distribution, Pro-Am Registration, and Pro-Am Pairings party; must be able to stand for long periods of time with occasional heavy lifting. Days required Oct 3 through Oct 13.
PRO-AM PALMER COURSE - Jimmy Heston - Pro-Am gift distribution, Pro-Am registration, and Pro-Am pairings party; must be able to stand for long periods with occasional heavy lifting. Days required: Oct 4 through Oct. 13.
PRO COURTESY CARS – Teresia Harwell, Bill Weber, Javier Ortiz – Pick up and return PGA Official Buick Tournament cars to local dealership. Greet players and families, conduct quick administrative documentation, provide courtesy car and assist with the loading of player/families luggage. Deliver courtesy car to private terminals as required. Assist players with the return of the vehicle when departing. Work location – National Rent-a-Car at airport entrance. Driver license and proof of insurance required.
PRO SHUTTLES - Jenny Fischer - Drive multi-passenger carts and vans to shuttle players and caddies, also caddie shuttle from Fiesta Texas. At least 21 years of age with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
REFRESHERS – Ruben Cortinas, Ted Nelson & JR Erdman- Supply various locations on and off course with food and beverage. Some heavy lifting and working in hot & humid conditions.
SCORERS - Frances Hill & Sheryl Kuyrkendall - Walk and record the strokes taken by each player and keep statistics; must be able to walk the entire course. Greenside scorers will operate a laser range finder; greenside scorers 4-6’ off the ground.
SECURITY – Russ Cornell & Glen Ross – Assist uniformed officers in securing various locations such as the clubhouse and driving range.
SET-UP/TEAR DOWN – Kirk Riggs - Work Saturday and Sunday prior to tournament and several days after tournament distributing and collecting tables and chairs, installing logo mesh and light construction.
SIGNS – Dave Falzareno & Larry Kurth - Prior to the tournament, distribute and setup signs on golf course, monitor signs all week and take signs down. Must be able to walk the entire golf course.
STANDARD BEARERS - Denny San Miguel & Bob Stegge – Assist with score keeping for the tournament by carrying a sign to inform the public of the golf professionals’ score. Must be able to walk the entire golf course, carry a sign, and have some golf knowledge. PARtner’s are primarily needed Monday-Friday, with the weekend tee times selected from those working Monday-Friday.
STRIKE FORCE - Nelson Harborth & Jim Watson - Standby team that acts as a liaison to all other committees; must be flexible. Some responsibilities can involve physical labor at various locations; golf knowledge a must.
TELEVISION – John Holguin – Assist with the installation of the televisions and satellite dishes in the hospitality venues at the tournament site.
VIP SHUTTLE - Lela Fosler & Karen Prevou - Provide on site transportation from VIP parking lot to clubhouse. Vehicles driven are vans and SUV’s. Drive in congested areas. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required. Hours – early morning to late evening Monday –Sunday. |
