Chip In for Schools Tips for Success
Know the Facts
- 100% of all the money collected goes to charity. NO money goes to pay for prizes, overhead or to pay golf pros.
- Your school gets 100% of what you raise.
- Checks are to be made out to: Golf San Antonio.
What Donors Want to Know
- Who gets the money.
- How the money willl be used.
Volunteers Get Help!
- Generally one person can only sell so many tickets.
- Get volunteers, teachers, coaches and friends to help obtain ticket sales.
- The more people working, the more money raised.
- Make sure your volunteers know the fundraising goal and how the money will be spent.
- Give your volunteers an individual goal to reach (either dollar amount or number of tickets)
- Have an incentive to help volunteers stay motivated. For example, the top fund raiser receives a gift or a day off from practice or certificate to a restaurant. Don't forget to use the incentive certificate that was given to you at the Kick Off breakfast.
Utilize Your Resources!
- Mail a letter from your school including a brief explanation of what you are fundraising for and how much. Give them a deadline to respond. Emphasize the facts: the donation is tax deductible and 100% goes back to your school program.
- Ask donors to find one person to donate as well. You will have a better chance of doubling your donations in half the time. Or suggest that if they cannot donate at this time, that they find someone to donate in their place.
- Send out an email with a link to www.golfsanantonio.org and encourage people to donate. You can send this out to everyone in your contact list, including your teachers and staff. Then you ask them to do the same on behalf of the school.
- Include a reminder in your monthly newsletter.
- Don’t forget to put the information on your web site with a link to our web site!
Think Outside Of the Box!
- Invite businesses to purchase tickets for employee gifts.
- Approach businesses to help sell tickets with the proceeds going back to your program.
- Ask businesses (restaurants, dry cleaners, banks, etc.) to display a sign in their establishment on your behalf. Display a sign that lets people know who will benefit from the donation and how they can buy their tickets.
- Have students stand and sell tickets at athletic games. Consider having an announcement made as a reminder on the speaker system.
Participant Toolbox
- Useful logos
- Advertisement flyer (to post around the school)
