Fundraising Guidelines & Rules

Best Practices

  1. Participating organizations must reach a fundraising minimum of $500 to be eligible to participate in Birdies program for the following year in 2011.
  2. Staple cash or checks to the appropriate pledge form when turning in pledge forms. Any cash your organization receives must be turned into the GSA office – GSA will not accept pledge forms that have paid written on them because the organization has held onto the money.
  3. Please continue to make sure all checks are written to: San Antonio Children’s Foundation (SACF for short).

Pledge Solicitation Rules & Regulations

  1. Participating charities must not solicit pledges in advance of the official pledge period as defined by GSA. You may notify your constituents via normal communication (example, newsletters) that you are participating in Birdies, but may not directly or individually request a pledge be made in advance of the official period. Failure to abide by this provision will result in expulsion from the program.
  2. Limited use of the trademarks of GSA, Birdies for Charity® and the Valero Texas Open will be granted to all participating charities. Samples of materials bearing the trademarks must be submitted to GSA for approval prior to distribution.
  3. Unauthorized use of the trademarks of GSA, the Valero Texas Open and Birdies for Charity® is strictly prohibited, and is grounds for expulsion from the program.
  4. The participating charity is responsible for the collection and submission to GSA of all completed pledge cards. GSA is not responsible for any pledge cards not received by the established deadline. Pledge cards that come in without the appropriate signature will be returned and not processed. The handwriting must be legible; any cards that come in with illegible handwriting will be returned and not processed.
  5. Payments from the San Antonio Children’s Foundation to participating charities will equal 100% of the value of the collected pledges. No payment will be made on uncollected pledges. Payments made over and above the pledged amount on individual pledges to a charity will be paid to that charity.
  6. These rules may be amended at any time at the sole and absolute discretion of GSA.
  7. Payment of pledges is to be made to San Antonio Children’s Foundation, not the soliciting charity. The SACF will make payment to the participating charities of all collected pledges earned by that charity.

Guess the Birdies Contest Rules

  1. NO PLEDGE, PURCHASE OR DONATION REQUIRED.
  2. Void where prohibited by law. Need not be present to win.
  3. Contest entry forms are limited to no more than 50 per person.
  4. Only one (1) Grand Prize will be awarded. The Grand Prize will be given to the person who exactly guesses the number of birdies made during the defined measurement period. In case of ties, a winner will be chosen at random from all official entries received by the established deadline date and bearing the correct guess for that number of birdies, or by a contest to be determined by the car dealership. If no one guesses the exact number of birdies, the winner will be randomly selected by the computer. In case of ties, the winner will be chosen at a tie-breaking event.
  5. “Guess the Birdies” contest entry deadline is Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
  6. The exact number of birdies made will include birdies made by the PGA TOUR players on Wednesday during the Pro-Am, and on Thursday through Sunday of the Official competition. Birdies made by the amateur Pro-Am contestants on Wednesday will be included in the final tabulation.
  7. The final number of birdies made will be determined and validated by the PGA TOUR.
  8. Only guesses submitted on Official Pledge Forms, or completed online will be accepted. NO exceptions.
  9. GSA’s decisions and interpretations of the rules will be final and made at their sole and absolute discretion. No appeal or further review will be permitted.
  10. Contest officials from GSA reserve the right to drive the Grand Prize vehicle for promotional and advertising purposes.
  11. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
  12. Winners are responsible for all sales tax, registration fees and other applicable fees and INCOME TAX on all prizes.
  13. SA members and their family members and employees of GSA and their family members are not eligible for the Grand Prize.
  14. Handwriting is the responsibility of the donors. GSA is not responsible for errors.
  15. These rules may be amended at any time at the sole and absolute discretion of GSA.
