Information for the Greater San Antonio Women’s Championship
75th Greater San Antonio Women's Championship June 6 - 8, 2008 Olmos Basin Golf Course
Eligibility: Any woman with amateur status, 18 years or older as of June 6, 2008, and residing in Bexar, Comal, Kendall, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Guadalupe, or Bandera counties for a minimum of three months prior to the Championship date with a maximum handicap index of 34.3. (Military residents exempt from three month residency requirement) Entry Fee: $85 (includes green fees) Entry Deadline: - 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 - Field limited to the first 125 paid entries received. (Or the number required to complete a group of three) - Late enries will be admitted on a space available basis only. - Players who withdraw after the deadline will recieve no refund. Format - 54 Hole Stroke Play, Flighted - Gross - Rounds One & Two: Flight determination for Final Round. (Scores carry over) - Top 20 finishers in Championship Flight receieve invitation to play in "2008 Tournament of Champions" Rules of Golf: - Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA. - All players must conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status as specified in the USGA Rules of Golf. - Rules Committee decisions will be final. - Appropriate attire (no short shorts, etc) is required. - Caddies and pull carts are permitted. - In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only, devices and distance information from devices can be shared with other players. - Players must check-in with the starter at least five minutes before her starting time. If a player arrives at their starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after their starting time, penalty is two strokes. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is disqualification. Awards: - The City Championship Trophy will be awarded to the low gross over the field for the three days. - Senior Medalist award will be given to the woman, age 50 or older, with the low gross total three day score. - Super Senior Medalist award will be given to the woman, age 65 or older, with the low gross total three day score. - Team Trophy: The San Antonio Women's Golf Association awards a perpetual trophy to the club that has the lowest combined net scores of four of it's members scored on the first day of play. The name of the winning club is engraved on the trophy, which remains with the winners for one year. A plaque is given to the club winning this event three consecutive years. - Prizes will be given in each flight. Carts: Carts are limited to two (2) carts per group. Riders will be paired to allow cart sharing when possible. However, if pairings require a player to ride alone, they will only be charged for half a cart.
